The beginning of class: Log-in immediately; complete bell ringer; print; turn in all bell ringers on Friday. See bell ringer information below. When you need help: Raise your hand and I will come to you as soon as possible. If I am working with another student, continue working or seek the answer from your textbook until I get to you. When you need to go to the restroom: Do not ask while I am teaching. After that time, raise your hand and ask. If I say yes sign out, take the pass, and return quickly. Remember, you should use the restroom before class begins. Do not abuse this priviledge. When you need to go to the nurse or there is an emergency: Get up and go to Mrs. Campbell immediately. Turning in papers: Always put your name at the bottom of each web page you create. You will be instructed to print at times but not always. Listen for instructions. If you are supposed to print, then make sure your name is on every page, staple printouts together, and place in the tray on the table.
Any document completed in Word should have a header on it. The header should have the students name, the filename, and the block and computer number in the first line. The end of class: At approximately five minutes before the bell, you will be warned and given time to finish and save your work and put away your materials. Stay in your seat until the bell rings. Homework and Make-Up Work:
It is important that you be in class every day; however, if you have an excused absence you can make up your work within five days and not loose credit. The computer lab is open every morning at 7:15 a.m. Come to Lab A before school within five days of your excused absence, and ask Mrs. Campbell for your make up work. Make-up work is entirely your responsibility! There will be no homework. All work must be done in class.Bell Ringers:
Each student will spend the first 10 minutes of class practicing basic grammar, reading, history, math, and science concepts. All the concepts practiced are beneficial when preparing for college, work, or when taking the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. On Friday, all Bell Ringers for the week should be stapled together in order and turned in. Each page should have the students name and block clearly printed or typed at the top. If a student is absent, he or she must make up the Bell Ringer activity. This may be done at home or in the lab before school. If a student finishes the Bell Ringer activity before time is called to move to the next activity, the student should quietly study for another class or visit one of the educational sites listed below the next section.Challenge Fridays:
Most Fridays you will have an assignment using a new computer program (such as Photoshop or Flash).Free Reading:
Each Friday the last 20 minutes of class will be devoted to "Free Reading," that is, reading for pleasure -- not writing or sleeping or reading textbooks -- but reading something that you enjoy. Acceptable reading material includes magazines, newspapers, novels, how-to manuals, etc. It is your responsibility to bring something each Friday. Everyone, including the teacher, will participate. Why? Reading has a significant impact on your writing and speaking skills and improves your vocabulary. It also means you'll know more, you'll become a faster reader, and you'll have a higher level of understanding what you read in any setting. As you become a Web designer, it is important to have the skills to produce something that is high quality and professional.
Finished Early?
If a student finishes his or her work before the time allotted, he or she may use that time to study quietly for another class, do educational research on the Internet, read a book, or go to one of the sites listed below so that each minute of this class is spent productively:Microtype Pro
