FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
1. When can I make up work?
Any morning in the lab between 7:15 & 7:50 a.m.
2. Can I make up work if my absence isn't excused?
No.
The school gives you two days to bring in an excuse for an absence. Go by the Student Center at 7:30 a.m. Don't be late!
3. What if I am in class everyday, but I still get behind on assignments?
The pace set in class is a reasonable expectation for high school students. Students who are slow typists or those with absences often find themselves lagging a little behind the rest of the class. If this describes your situation, you need to come to the lab in the mornings to put in a little extra time. Don't get discouraged! If you have been absent then surely you expect to have work to make up. If you are inexperienced, you WILL get faster! It is very common for students to be slow at first. Just keep in mind that YOU are responsible for completing the assignments. You are encouraged to talk over your assignments or questions with Mrs. Campbell so that she can help direct you. She can also offer suggestions for how to use your time wisely in class and in the mornings.
4. When can I get a progress report?
"Ask and you shall receive." (A little notice is appreciated.)
Parents, please feel free to e-mail me (sherryc@autaugacountyschool.org) at any time to have a progress report sent home or if you just need to know your child's average. STI home is another option if you want immediate feedback on your child's grades in all his/her classes. See www.prattvillehighschool.com or call the school office for more information.
5. Why is it important to be in class on time?
Four big reasons to be on time:
1. All pop quzzes are given right after the tardy bell rings. If you are tardy you cannot take the quiz.
2. Graduation exam practice is also done first and this is an important learning opportunity (EVEN if you have passed, you still don't know everything and can learn more during this time).
3. Class directions are given soon after the bell, and it is rude to expect the teacher to repeat herself just because you chose to be late. You are given 2 free tardies each nine weeks to cover any unforseen situations (such as flat tires or an accident).
4. It is a bad "life" habit!Make puctuality a priority for everything in your life, and you will discover some lasting results -- you will be trusted, you will be respected, and you will learn more.
6. What is the consequence for being late?
Aside from missing quizzes and required learning opportunities and looking immature...
3rd tardy & more = break detention or morning detention (as determined by the teacher)
4th tardy - office referral7. What are the class rules?
In general:
1. Be in the classroom when the tardy bell rings.
2. Follow directions the first time they are given.
3. No games.
4. Electronic devices may not be used (turn off and put away the cell phones and ipods).
5. No headphones.
6. No food or drinks.
7. Take care of your computer equipment.8. Will there be a final exam and how may I be exempt?
We will follow the exam exemption policy provided by the Autauga County Board of Education. According to this policy the following students may be exempt from final semester exams:
Students with an "A" average for the semester and no more than 3 absences;
Students with a "B" average for the semester and no more than 2 absences;
Students with a "C" average for the semester and no more than 1 absence.Students who have been suspended or have been sent to the Alternative School will not be exempt. Students who exhibit poor classroom behavior will also not be exempt from the final exam. The teacher reserves the right to deny anyone's exemption due to behavior regardless of average or absences.
