Please remember that school begins at 7:50. The tardy bell will ring at 7:55. Students who are not in class when the tardy bell rings will be considered tardy and will need to check in at Student Services.
Announcements for September 8, 2010:
COLLEGE INFO
*College and Career Day will be Sept 13. Juniors, Seniors and their parents are invited to attend. County and private schools will tour from 8:30-9:20, PHS Seniors tour 9:35-10:45 and PHS Juniors from 10:45-11:20. Teachers with Junior or Senior classes need to attend with their class.
*Junior and Senior College Field trips are posted in the Guidance Hall. Cost is $25, must have 3.0 GPA and
ACT score of 18 or better. 1st trip is Oct 14 to UAB. Sign up with Mrs. Manning.
*Please take the ACT! It will enable you to go on the college field trips. You must have an 18 or higher to participate in the field trips. These trips are posted on the PHS website and through announcements.
GENERAL
*French Club members involved in Zouk and Cancan dances will have mandatory practices on Wednesday after school in the Mane. Tryouts are Thursday immediately after school.
*Preliminary sign ups for Miss Lion will begin Thursday, Sept 9. Sign up sheets will be available in Mrs. Ellis’ room, SC-5, Mrs. Cranmore’s room, Lab B and the Mane during lunch. There will be no fee associated with the Preliminary sign up so if you are interested come and sign up.
*Junior Civitan will meet Thursday morning @ 7:20 in Sr Harris’ room. All members please plan to attend.
*Spanish Dancers will meet for anyone interested on Wednesday afternoon immediately after school in 109.
*The last day to pay MU ALPHA THETA dues in time for t-shirt order is Wednesday, 9-8-10.
*PHS Blood Drive will be Wed, Sept 8 from 7:30-3. Sign up with Mrs. Hood, Tec 2. Donors must be at least16 with picture ID. PHS will not provide ID for students.
*FCS is hosting “See You at the Pole” on Sept 22 @ 7:10 am. For more information, you are invited to attend the FCS on Wednesday mornings @ 7:15 in PA-1.
*The 11th Annual Auburn Univ Dept of Poultry Science will be held Sat, Oct 2 and the Tigers will be taking on LA-Monroe. Parents and students are encouraged to attend. RSVP by Sept 17 with Mrs. Harvard.
*PE/Athletic shirts and shorts are on sale for $25 a set. See Coach Barber to purchase.
ATHLETICS
*Support your Lady Lions Volleyball girls as they play their first home game this season Thursday @4:00. The Lions will play both JD and Stanhope. Admission is $2.
*All boys wanting to wrestle need to pick up paperwork from Co Miller, room 210.

2010-2011 Dress Code Information:
STUDENT DRESS AND APPEARANCE
Students are expected to be clean and appropriately dressed for school. Dress and appearance must not cause disruption or present health or safety problems. Shoes must be worn by all students. Clothing in a state of disrepair or so skin-tight or revealing as to provoke or distract other students is disruptive and therefore unacceptable. Hats, other types of headgear, and sunglasses are not to be worn in school except for medical or safety reasons.
The following shall be considered APPROPRIATE for all students:
*Unobtrusive EARRINGS worn on the ears, which are not distracting to other students, are acceptable.The following shall be considered INAPPROPRIATE for all students:
*Excessive Colors (e.g. black shirt & black pants, etc.) *Strapless dresses *Blouses with high midriff * Halter Tops/ Tube Tops *Spaghetti Straps *Tank Tops (single, double, or tripled) *Short shorts/skirts/dresses even when worn with tights or leggings or denim leggings *Shirts should not be worn over leggings/tights/denim leggings *Muscle Shirts *Overly loose fitting clothing *Pajama pants or Lounge wear *Belts unfastened, hanging down, and are too long * Chains on clothing *Overly large bell-bottom pants *Pants which drag ground/floor *Pants must be worn at the waist *All shirts must be tucked so that all pockets are visible at all times *No rips/frays/holes above the knee—all bottoms should be a smooth surface above the knee *Overall bibs down or unfastened *Picks, combs, or stick decorations in hair *Facial and/or nose rings or other facial jewelry *Excessive jewelry *A glove/gloves inside school buildings *Any kind/type of head cloth, wrap, headband, scarves, bandana, etc. *Hair color/styles that distract learning (e.g. extreme mohawks or extreme hairstyles) *Clothing with decals or slogans that contain profanity, obscene/indecent commentary, immoral/illegal behavior, or alcohol/tobacco advertisements *SHIRTS, SHORTS, PANTS, DRESSES, AND SIMILAR ITEMS OF CLOTHING MUST BE IN GOOD TASTE AS DEEMED BY THE ADMINISTRATION AND TEACHERS AT PRATTVILLE HIGH SCHOOL. *STUDENTS ARE SUBJECT TO SEARCH WHEN SCHOOL OFFICIALS HAVE REASONABLE GROUNDS TO DO SO.
STUDENTS WHO ARE INAPPROPRIATELY DRESSED WILL BE SENT HOME TO CHANGE CLOTHES. STUDENTS WHO DRIVE – MAY DRIVE HOME WITH PARENTS PERMISSION, TO CHANGE CLOTHES. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT DRIVE – PARENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED TO EITHER BRING THE STUDENT APPROPRIATE CLOTHING OR TAKE THE STUDENT HOME TO CHANGE CLOTHES. **STUDENTS MAY BE SUBJECT TO OUT-OF-SCHOOL SUSPENSION IF CONTINUOUSLY INAPPROPRIATELY DRESSED.
*THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO PLAYING CARDS, DIE/DICE, OR ANY SEMBLANCE OF GAMBLING MATERIALS ALLOWED ON SCHOOL GROUNDS AT ANY TIME. ABSOLUTELY NO GAMBLING IS PERMITTED.ALL Autauga County Schools offer tutoring before and after school Monday through Thursday. PHS offers tutoring on Saturday mornings from 9-11 a.m.
